Every colorway is dyed in batches. Orders collect until the batch closes, then everything in it goes into the ice together — which is why a piece ordered on a Tuesday and a piece ordered on a Thursday can look like cousins rather than twins.
How a drop works
- Pick your colorway and your size. Nothing is dyed yet. You are reserving a place in the next batch.
- The batch closes Monday and Thursday at 11:59 PM. Order before it closes and you are in that run.
- Soda ash, then ice, then 24 hours. Maria folds each piece by hand, mounds ice over it and sprinkles the dye. The melt does the rest.
- Rinsed until the water runs clear, then shipped. Made-to-order pieces take about 5 to 7 days in the studio before they go out.
Why the wait is the point
Ice dyeing cannot be rushed. Warm the room to hurry the melt and the colors go flat and muddy. The full day in the ice is what splits a single dye into its separate pigments and gives the piece its depth.
