The Barbie ice-dye colorway brings pink and gray to a fleece-lined sweatshirt, available as a crewneck or hoodie. It is the color treatment, rather than a printed repeat, that defines this piece.
I build the folds, soda ash, ice, and dry dye by hand. As the ice melts for about twenty-four hours, pink moves into the gray ground in branching passages that the next fold and melt cannot reproduce.
I hand dye the Barbie sweatshirt in York, Pennsylvania; turn this pink-and-gray layer inside out, wash cold, and tumble low.
