Tie-Dye Hoodies & Ice-Dyed Pullovers
A tie-dye hoodie gives the ice a lot of fabric to work with: body, sleeves and hood. Maria hand ice-dyes each pullover hoodie in York, Pennsylvania: a soda ash soak, folds and scrunches by hand, a mound of ice, Procion MX dye on top, then about 24 hours while the ice melts through the thick fabric. Because the whole garment goes into the ice, the body, sleeves and hood each come out with their own patterns, and pigments split differently on every piece.
Hoodies are fleece pullovers, a warm layer for sidelines, campfires and cold mornings. Each product's details list the blank used for that colorway, for example a Gildan Heavy Blend hoodie. The fit is unisex and true to size, generally Small through 3X, so size up if you want a roomy, oversized hoodie.
Most colorways are offered as a tee, crewneck or hoodie, so you will see the same palettes elsewhere in the shop. To order one, choose Hoodie in the Style menu on any colorway's page. If you would rather have a cleaner layer with no hood, compare crewneck tie-dye sweatshirts. For warm weather, see ice-dyed tie-dye shirts, or start at the Floorboard Findings home page.
Tie-dye hoodie questions
Is every hoodie one of a kind?
Yes. Each hoodie is folded and iced separately, so the palette is the colorway but the pattern is yours alone. Ready-to-ship pieces show the exact garment.
How should I wash a dyed hoodie?
Inside out, cold water, mild detergent, no bleach, then tumble dry low or hang dry. Thick fleece holds water, so give it time to dry fully. See the washing guide.
How long does a made-to-order hoodie take?
Studio time is usually about 5 to 7 days: dyeing, curing, rinsing until the water runs clear, and finishing. Tracking is sent when it ships.
