Detroit Lions Ice Dye

Lions ice dye is built around one of our favorite Procion MX blues. Honolulu Blue is a bright, clear, medium blue — brighter than navy but deeper than powder blue — and it creates absolutely gorgeous effects under ice. The dye splits into brilliant azure, bright cerulean, and softer sky blue tones, creating a range of blues that feels clean and vibrant.

The silver component relies on negative space and the natural tone of the blank. A Comfort Colors "Ice Blue" or white blank provides the perfect base — the areas where Honolulu Blue dye is lightest transition naturally into a silver-gray that complements the brighter blue sections. The ice melt creates soft, cloud-like gradients between the vivid blue and the silver-toned undyed areas.

For Lions pieces, we use an open crumple that gives the blue plenty of room to express its full tonal range. The goal is a bright, optimistic piece — blue skies and silver linings, which feels perfectly on-brand for a franchise and city experiencing a genuine renaissance.
