New England Patriots Ice Dye

Patriots ice dye is a masterclass in sophisticated dark-palette dyeing. The deep navy Procion MX we use for this colorway is one of the most complex dyes in our studio — it contains blue, black, and sometimes violet pigments that separate dramatically during the ice melt. On a Patriots piece, you'll see the navy fracture into midnight blue, dusty indigo, and near-black channels that have incredible depth.

The red accent brings warmth and energy to what would otherwise be a very dark piece. We apply it sparingly — a strategic sprinkle across one section of the blank — so it reads as a highlight rather than competing with the navy. As the ice melts, the red splits into crimson and rose tones that create beautiful contrast against the dark blue background.

The silver element is the trickiest to achieve in ice dye, since there's no "silver" Procion MX dye. Instead, we leave deliberate sections of the blank with minimal dye coverage, allowing the natural white or gray of the Comfort Colors blank to show through. This negative space technique creates the silver impression, and the ice melt patterns give it an organic, cloud-like quality that's far more interesting than a flat gray.
