About This Service
Custom Graphic Tees
Custom graphic tees are the backbone of branded merchandise, and at Floorboard Findings we approach them with the same obsessive attention to quality that defines our hand-dyed apparel. Whether you need 24 camp tees for a summer retreat or 200 fundraiser shirts for a fire department, we match the right print method to your design, your fabric, and your budget.
We don’t operate like a big-box screen printing shop where your order is one of thousands running through automated presses. Every order gets personal attention from Maria and our production team in York, PA. We review your artwork, recommend the best print method for the design complexity and blank color, produce test prints before running the full batch, and quality-check every single shirt before it ships.
Our primary print methods are DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers and sublimation, with screen printing available for large runs of simple designs. DTF has transformed the custom apparel industry because it produces photo-quality, full-color prints on any fabric color — including the dark garment-dyed Comfort Colors blanks that boutique customers love. The prints are soft to the touch, flexible, and rated for 50+ washes without cracking or peeling.
For businesses, the real value of working with us isn’t just the print quality — it’s the blank quality. We don’t print on cheap Gildan Ultra Cotton and call it premium. Our standard blanks for graphic tees are Comfort Colors 1717 (the same heavyweight, garment-dyed cotton that our ice dye customers love) and Bella Canvas 3001 (a modern retail-fit tee that looks and feels like something from a high-end brand). When your customers put on a shirt with your logo, the quality of the blank matters just as much as the print — it’s the difference between a shirt that lives in someone’s drawer and one they actually wear.
We’ve printed custom tees for campgrounds, fire departments, small businesses, family reunions, sports teams, school fundraisers, and boutique brand launches. Each project gets the same level of care because your brand is on every shirt that leaves our studio. A poorly printed or poorly fitting tee with your logo on it isn’t just a bad product — it’s a bad reflection of your organization. We take that responsibility seriously.
Artwork assistance is included with every order. If you have a finished design file, we’ll optimize it for print. If you have a rough concept or a napkin sketch, we’ll work with you to develop it into a print-ready file. We don’t charge hidden "art setup" fees — design consultation is part of the service.
How It Works
Our Techniques
We use three distinct printing techniques at Floorboard Findings, each suited to different design requirements, fabric types, and budgets. Understanding the differences helps you choose the right method for your project.
DTF (Direct-to-Film) Transfers: This is our most versatile and most-requested print method. The design is printed onto a special PET film using CMYK + white inks, then coated with a hot-melt adhesive powder. When heat-pressed onto a garment, the adhesive bonds the printed film directly to the fabric fibers. The result is a full-color, photo-quality print with a soft, slightly textured hand feel. DTF works on any fabric color (including black and dark garment-dyed blanks), any fabric blend, and produces exceptional detail — fine text, gradients, and photographic images all reproduce beautifully. Our heat press settings are calibrated for each blank: 305°F for 15 seconds on Comfort Colors, 300°F for 12 seconds on Bella Canvas, with specific pressure adjustments for heavyweight vs. lightweight fabrics.
Sublimation Printing: Sublimation uses heat to convert solid dye particles into gas, which then penetrates polyester fibers and re-solidifies. The result is a print with absolutely no hand feel — the ink is literally part of the fabric. Colors are extremely vibrant and the print is as durable as the fabric itself. The catch: sublimation only works on polyester or high-polyester-blend fabrics, and only on white or very light colors (since there’s no white ink in sublimation). We use sublimation for performance wear, white poly-blend tees, and all-over print projects where the entire garment surface is covered.
Screen Printing: The traditional method, and still the most cost-effective for large runs of simple designs. Each color in the design requires a separate screen, so screen printing is most economical for 1–3 color designs ordered in quantities of 50+. The ink sits on top of the fabric with a slightly raised texture. We use water-based inks for a softer hand feel on premium blanks and plastisol inks for maximum opacity on dark fabrics.
Quality Materials
Premium Blanks We Use
Comfort Colors 1717
Heavyweight garment-dyed cotton with a lived-in softness. The slightly textured surface of garment-dyed blanks gives DTF prints a premium, embedded look rather than sitting on top of the fabric.
Bella Canvas 3001
Retail-quality unisex tee with a modern fit. The smooth cotton-poly surface is ideal for detailed DTF prints and sublimation — perfect for designs with fine text or photographic elements.
Comfort Colors 1566
The classic Comfort Colors crewneck sweatshirt. DTF prints on garment-dyed sweatshirts have a premium boutique look that commands higher pricing for branded merchandise.
Gildan 18500
Heavy blend hooded sweatshirt for budget-conscious bulk orders. Excellent DTF print adhesion and durability at a price point that works for fundraiser and event merchandise.

How to Order
Share Your Design & Vision
Send us your artwork, logo, or concept. We’ll review it and recommend the best print method (DTF, sublimation, or screen print) based on design complexity, colors, and blank choice.
Approve Your Proof
We create a digital mockup showing your design on the selected blank. For DTF and sublimation, we produce a physical test print so you can see and feel the final product before we run the full order.
Production Run
Your order enters production in our York, PA studio. Each shirt is pressed individually with calibrated heat and pressure settings specific to the blank and print method.
Quality Check & Ship
Every shirt is inspected for print alignment, color accuracy, and pressing quality. Orders are folded, counted, and shipped with tracking via your preferred carrier.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked
What’s the difference between DTF, sublimation, and screen printing?
DTF transfers produce full-color, photo-quality prints on any fabric color and feel soft to the touch. Sublimation infuses ink directly into polyester fibers for a no-feel print, but only works on white or light-colored poly-blend fabrics. Screen printing is cost-effective for large runs of simple 1–3 color designs. We’ll recommend the best method for your specific project.
Can you print on blanks I provide?
Yes, though we can’t guarantee results on blanks we haven’t tested. We’ve dialed in our heat press settings for Comfort Colors, Bella Canvas, Gildan, and Rabbit Skins — we know exactly what temperature, pressure, and time produces the best adhesion on each blank. If you want to supply your own, we recommend sending a few test pieces first.
Do you offer design services?
Basic artwork cleanup and optimization is included with every order at no extra charge. If you need a design created from scratch, we offer design services starting at $50 for simple text-based layouts and $100+ for custom illustrated graphics. We’ll provide a quote based on complexity.
How durable are DTF prints?
Our DTF prints are rated for 50+ washes when cared for properly (cold wash, tumble dry low). The transfer film bonds to the fabric fibers under heat and pressure, creating a flexible print that moves with the garment without cracking, peeling, or fading.
What file format do you need for artwork?
Ideal formats are vector files (AI, EPS, SVG) or high-resolution PNG files (300 DPI minimum) with transparent backgrounds. For DTF printing, we can work with most formats — even a clear photo of a hand-drawn design. We’ll let you know if your file needs adjustment.
