The olive drab ice-dye crewneck carries layered green tones across a fleece-lined sweatshirt. It stays focused on the military-leaning olive color rather than mixing in a printed graphic.

I fold the crewneck, pack it with soda ash, mound on the ice, and add dry olive dye. The melting water draws deeper green into some folds and leaves lighter areas in others. That distribution belongs only to the sweatshirt under that ice.

I hand dye the olive drab crewneck in York, Pennsylvania; cold wash this layered green sweatshirt inside out and tumble dry low.
