Washington Commanders Ice Dye

Commanders ice dye is one of the warmest, most luxurious colorways we produce. The burgundy Procion MX is a complex dye that sits between red and brown — under ice, it fractures into wine, deep rose, plum, and chocolate tones that create an incredibly rich tapestry on fabric. It's one of those colors that looks expensive, with depth and dimension you can't achieve with any other dyeing method.

The gold provides brightness and energy against the deep burgundy. Gold Procion MX splits into sunny yellow and warm amber tones, and where it meets the burgundy, you get stunning transition colors: burnt sienna, copper, deep amber, and golden brown. These transition zones are often the most beautiful part of a Commanders piece.

For this colorway, we use a medium crumple with burgundy as the dominant color and gold concentrated in strategic bright spots. The ice creates natural gradient paths between the two colors, and the result feels like a piece of fabric you'd find in a royal wardrobe — rich, warm, and sophisticated. This palette works exceptionally well on Comfort Colors heavyweight blanks where the thick cotton absorbs the deep burgundy beautifully.
